Elderly couple charred to death in sleep in Bongaigaon

 

GUWAHATI: An elderly couple died in a fire that gutted their tea stall at Bashbari Bazar in Bongaigaon at 12.30 AM on Saturday. The fire destroyed one more shop before the Fire & Emergency Service personnel doused it.

The deceased have been identified as Dulal Bhattacharya (75), and Kaushylla Bhattacharya (60), whose bodies were discovered in their tea stall at the scene.

According to sources, the cause of the fire remains undetermined. However, three cylinders were found at the site, one of which had exploded. 



The source further stated that the Circle Officer of Bongaigaon and the FO DDMA were present alongside the firefighting personnel. The bodies have been moved to Civil Hospital, Bongaigaon. 

The situation is now under control and continues to be monitored.
