 Guwahati city is one of the most important and dense urban centres of North East India. Located in a zone V quake zone, (the most seismically active region of the country), the lack of adequate open spaces and high density of urban population makes disaster response a major challenge. District Disaster Management Authority in association with Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) will now carry out various sensitization programmes on various hazards in all Municipal Wards of Guwahati in collaboration with GMC, NDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, SDRF, Civil Defense, and various NGOs and civil society organizations.  99541-02034 Aim of the drill is to harness the strengths and capabilities of the local community, NGOs etc. to meet the urban catastrophes in the Guwahati city.
