Defence Expo Held In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The inaugural "East Tech 2023," an event showcasing the latest advancements in the defence sector, reached a successful conclusion in Guwahati on October 11.

The Eastern Command of the Indian Army played a significant role by providing a platform for defence industries in this event, which received substantial participation from industrial partners across the nation. East Tech 2023 aimed to enhance the technological knowledge base of participants and familiarise them with the latest state-of-the-art technologies and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions available in the defence sector.

The event gathered a multitude of Indian manufacturers, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) from various corners of the country. They collectively exhibited their cutting-edge weaponry and equipment technologies. 

The two-day event commenced on October 10, with an inauguration ceremony attended by Bimal Bora, the Minister for Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises, and Cultural Affairs Department. The event also witnessed the presence of esteemed military officials, including Lieutenant General RP Kalita, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Command, Lieutenant General RC Srikanth, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Eastern Command, Lieutenant General Manish Erry, Corps Commander, Gajraj Corps, and numerous dignitaries from the military and paramilitary forces, as well as the civilian sector.

The event featured a seminar on niche technologies and a medical symposium in collaboration with the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati. Renowned subject experts from IIT, AIIMS, and the Indian Army delivered insightful talks, attracting a significant audience, including students from various colleges in the city and neighbouring states.

East Tech 2023 came to a grand conclusion on October 11, with a closing address by Lieutenant General RC Srikanth, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Eastern Command.
