COVID-19: Recoveries Surpass Number of Active Cases in India

GUWAHATI: The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India rose to 2,76,583. The country now has seen 1,35,206 recoveries as against 1,33,632 active cases as per the latest data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 

With this, the total number of people recovered from the virus has surpassed total number of active cases in the country.

In Assam, with a spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases, the total tally has gone up to 3,050 as per State Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s latest Twitter update. 

The state now has 1,945 active cases with 215 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra with 90,787 cases is the worst-affected state by the disease, followed by Tamil Nadu with 34,914 cases. 

The tally of COVID-19 positive cases in the national capital stands at 31,309 with 905 deaths recorded in New Delhi so far and Gujarat has reported 21,014 positive so far.

India had surpassed both Italy and Spain within a short span of time. The country ranks 5th and lies just below the US, Brazil, Russia and the UK on the list now on the list of countries worst affected by the pandemic.
