GUWAHATI: In poll-bound Assam, Congress has released names of 40 candidates for the first phase of Assam Legislative Assembly Elections 2021, which included names of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Ripun Bora and Rakibul Hussain.
While Bora is contesting from the Gohpur seat, Samaguri went to Hussian, who was holding the portfolio of Home Minister in the first term of the Tarun Gogoi government.
Debabrata Saikia, the incumbent Leader of Opposition (LoP) will be contesting from the Nazira constituency, which is a Congress bastion.
The list finds no mention from the Barak Valley.
