GUWAHATI: The Congress has released its list of 10 Lok Sabha candidates from the 14 seats it is going to contest. The candidature for four seats -- Gauhati, Kokrajhar, Dhubri and Barpeta -- have not been cleared by the All India Congress Committee.
According to sources in New Delhi, the names of Sabda Ram Rabha (Kokrajhar seat) and Bobbeeta Sharma (Gauhati) have made it as top probables.
It is very surprising that both Sharma and Rabha had lost elections in past. Bobbeeta Sharma had lost the 2016 assembly election (Gauhati East) to BJP's Siddhartha Bhattacharya who polled 1,27,602 votes whereas Sharma managed to get only 30,965 votes.
Sabda Ram Rabha, a lawyer by profession is the probable Congress candidate for Kokrajhar. An ex-AASU leader, Rabha has lost all three elections that he has contested. He was first in Asom Gana Parishad and joined BJP just before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and then left the BJP in 2016 to join the Congress.
