CM Convoy Cannot Disrupt Traffic Or Halt Ambulances | Assam Cabinet Decisions

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet Meeting held under the leadership of Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma took many major decisions. 

Some of the decisions taken in the meeting held on Thursday, January 27 are as follows:

•    Budget Session of Assam Legislative Assembly to commence on 14 March 2022.
•    State Election Commission to schedule and conduct Municipal Elections before 10 March 2022.
•    CM and other Ministers not to make any fresh announcements without taking into consideration availability of adequate financial resources. However, after consulting departments, schemes can be taken up as per request made during the function.
•    During official tours and public programmes, Ministers will provide information only on Schemes that are already part of Budget or any other Govt announcement.
•    During road travel of the Chief Minister, traffic will not be disrupted beforehand. If required, traffic may be paused for a period not exceeding 2 minutes.
•    To minimise public inconvenience, Chief Minister's motorcade to be limited to 6 cars within Guwahati Metropolitan Area and 12 in other areas/districts, excluding Escort and Pilot.
•    Ambulances will now get precedence over the Chief Minister's motorcade and will not be stopped.
•    Regular traffic will no longer be disrupted when Assam Chief Minister is travelling by road. If required, traffic may be paused for a period not exceeding 2 minutes.
•    The practice of felicitations and offering gifts to CM, Ministers and senior officials during any official function to be discontinued. However, visiting dignitaries will be provided with proper courtesy.
•    District Day to be observed by all districts on the date of notification for district creation and celebrated with enthusiasm with involvement of local people. If notification not available, the date of joining of the first DC to be observed as District Day.
