City to observe 2nd Karbi Anglong Day on 6th August

Assam is the home to many ethnic communities and tribes, and boasts of its diversified cultural kaleidoscope. Each of the tribes and communities possesses rich custom, tradition and heritage. Karbis, one of the major ethnic groups, also have rich and unique cultural heritage of its own. Celebrating such a glorious and rich cultural heritage and in a sincere effort to bring the people of Karbi Anglong and the people of the plains more closer, the 2nd Karbi Anglong Day celebrations, 2016 will be observed on August 6th, Saturday, from 8 AM, in Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium, Kalakshetra, Panjabari, Guwahati. The theme for this year's celebration has been earmarked as "Showcasing Karbi Anglong- Glorious Past, Vibrant Present and Promising Future". The entire day's celebration shall witness a host of programmes including ones which would showcase the rich culture and heritage of the Karbi community, interactive sessions, press briefs and cultural performances.  An Interactive Session will be held, the topic for which has been earmarked as —"For a resurgent Karbi Anglong, towards a new beginning". Shri Prasant Rajguru, Editor-in-Chief, Amar Asom News Daily, shall be the moderator of the interactive session. The panelists for the interactive session shall include Dr. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Head of Department, Department of Political Science, Gauhati University and Dr. K. Debbarma, Department of Political Science, Northeastern Hill University, Shillong.
