Champions Trophy 2025: Pak Vs Bangladesh Match Ends In Rain-Hit Draw, Both Out

GUWAHATI: Rain at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium forced the Pakistan vs Bangladesh Champions Trophy match to be abandoned on Thursday, February 27, leaving both teams with a shared point. However, the result did little to change the standings, as Pakistan finished at the bottom of Group A with just one point and a net run rate of -1.087.

Pakistan, the defending champions and tournament hosts, failed to secure a single victory. Their campaign had already been derailed by heavy defeats, losing to New Zealand by 60 runs and suffering a six-wicket loss to arch-rivals India. The washed-out game against Bangladesh only confirmed their last-place finish in the group.

Bangladesh, having also lost both of their earlier matches, ended the group stage in third place. They suffered a six-wicket defeat to India and a five-wicket loss against New Zealand.

Both sides were already eliminated from the tournament before this final fixture, making the abandoned match a mere formality. For Pakistan, the early exit and poor performances raised serious concerns, particularly as they were not only the hosts but also the previous tournament’s winners.
