Centre Extends Validity Of Expired Driving, Learner's And Conductor Licenses Till February 29

GUWAHATI: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has acknowledged the infrastructure-related issues faced by applicants on the Sarathi portal (https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in) between January 31, 2024, and February 12, 2024. Due to these disruptions, citizens encountered difficulties in availing license-related services, prompting the partial disabling of online services to alleviate load issues at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs).

To ensure RTOs could function smoothly, online services were partially disabled for citizens during this period, affecting services such as fee payment, license renewal, and booking slots for learner's licenses and driving skill tests. In response to the challenges faced by citizens, the government has decided to extend the validity of learner's licenses, driving licenses, and conductor licenses that expired between January 31 and February 15, 2024.

No penalty will be levied, and these documents will be considered valid until February 29, 2024. Enforcement authorities are instructed to recognize these documents as valid until February 29, 2024, to avoid inconvenience to citizens.
