The scheme seeks to revolutionise the agriculture sector by leveraging drone technology and empowering women through SHGs.

The key features of the scheme include:

•    Convergent Approach: Holistic interventions will bring together the resources and efforts of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Department of Rural Development, and Department of Fertilisers, along with the active involvement of Women SHGs and Lead Fertiliser Companies.
•    Cluster Identification: Suitable clusters, where the use of drones is economically viable, will be identified. Around 15,000 women SHGs in various states within these clusters will be selected to receive drones.
•    Financial Assistance: Central Financial Assistance of 80 per cent of the drone's cost, accessories, and ancillary charges, up to a maximum of Rs. Eight Lakh, will be provided to the women SHGs. The Cluster Level Federation of SHGs can raise the balance amount as a loan under the National Agriculture Infra Financing Facility, with a 3 per cent interest subvention.
•    Training Programmes: Selected SHG members will undergo a 15-day training programme, including mandatory five-day drone pilot training and an additional 10-day training for agriculture purposes like nutrient and pesticide application. Another member or family member with skills in repairs and maintenance will be trained as a drone technician/assistant.
•    Role of Lead Fertiliser Companies: Acting as a bridge between drone supplier companies and SHGs, Lead Fertiliser Companies will facilitate procurement, repair, and maintenance of drones. They will also promote the use of Nano Fertilisers such as Nano Urea and Nano DAP through drone services.
•    Economic Impact: The scheme is expected to provide sustainable business and livelihood support to 15,000 SHGs, enabling them to earn an additional income of at least ₹1 lakh per annum.
