The vulnerabilities, affecting Android versions 12, 12L, 13, 14, and 15, could allow attackers to gain elevated privileges, execute arbitrary code, or cause denial-of-service (DoS) conditions.
In CERT-In's Vulnerability Note CIVN-2025-0013, the government has highlighted the risks of unauthorized access and system instability, urging users and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to take immediate security measures.
The security flaws stem from weaknesses in several Android components, including the Framework, Platform, System, Kernel, and third-party components from MediaTek, Qualcomm, Unisoc, and Arm. CERT-In has also confirmed that one of these vulnerabilities, CVE-2024-53104, is actively being exploited in the wild.
Android, an open-source operating system used in smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches, remains a primary target for cyberattacks. Users have been advised to update their devices with the latest security patches and avoid installing apps from untrusted sources.
