GUWAHATI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College, on Monday, September 2, over alleged corruption and financial misconduct at the institution. Along with Ghosh, three others were detained: vendors Biplav Singha and Suman Hazara, and Afsar Ali, the Additional Security Officer to Ghosh.

The arrests were made following a directive from the Calcutta High Court, which ordered the CBI to investigate the reported financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. As a part of the investigation, Ghosh previously underwent a polygraph test, along with the prime accused, Sanjay Roy, and four other doctors.
In addition to the corruption allegations, the investigation is also examining Ghosh's alleged involvement in a high-profile rape and murder case of a trainee doctor that took place at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.
The investigation into these matters is ongoing.
