Involved in drugging vehicle drivers and snatching their vehicles, the gang comprised individuals from Manipur and West Bengal as well. The arrests made led to the recovery of two stolen vehicles.

The incident first came to light when a missing person FIR was lodged at Dimapur’s East Police Station, revealing an organised network of criminals operating across four states. The gang's modus operandi involved posing as prospective clients to hire commercial vehicles plying inter-state routes.

After gaining the drivers' trust, the criminals would drug them by lacing food items, rendering them unconscious, and would proceed to snatch the vehicles.

The mastermind behind the operation hails from West Bengal, who orchestrated each crime with the help of his inter-state gang members. Acting on digital evidence and technical surveillance, Dimapur Police arrested two gang members from Manipur, two from Dimapur, and two from Assam.

Police continue to investigate the incident, as further details are pending.
