Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Candidates With Criminal Records To Disclose It In Newspaper & Television, Says Chief Election Officer

 

GUWAHATI: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar has announced that if any candidate has criminal records, they have to provide that in the newspaper and television three times.

The political parties also have to provide answer as to why a candidate with criminal background is contesting from that constituency. Also the political parties have to disclose the basis of the selection of a candidate with criminal background.

CEC also informed that the voters will have the facility to know their candidate through the KYC app.
