GUWAHATI: The Border Security Force (BSF) Guwahati Frontier has seized narcotics and contraband worth ₹12.7 crore in a series of anti-smuggling operations conducted from January 1 to November 29. This update was shared by BSF Deputy Inspector General Harmeet Singh.

Confiscated items from consecutive operations include 68,851 bottles of Phensedyl, 1,655 kg of Ganja (weed), 3,060 grams of gold, 10,881 Yaba tablets, 1,017 bottles of liquor, and 1.86 lakh kg of sugar.
Additionally, a recent operation on November 21 had led to the seizure of 528 kg of cumin seeds worth ₹3.69 lakh in Cooch Behar, West Bengal.
During this period, a total of 131 individuals have been arrested for being involved in such smuggling activities, comprising 35 Bangladeshi nationals and 96 Indians.
Since its inception in 2011, the BSF Guwahati Frontier has deployed 11 battalions to secure the border region. The force continues to remain vigilant against such trans-border crimes, prioritising narcotics and contraband smuggling.
