The Forest Office at Kachari will be dismantled and shifted for the construction and progress of the much delayed Ropeway project in Guwahati.

Sources revealed that the Forest office at Kachari that was used as a Forest Rangers’ and Conservators’ office will now be shifted to Santipur.

This land near the riverfront is about 7 bighas for which GMDA has given a compensation of Rs. 2 Cr to the Forest Department.

The ambitious Ropeway project aims to connect Guwahati city with North Guwahati over the Brahmaputra. The project has been under construction since 2009 and has faced several hiccups over the years.
