GUWAHATI: On the concluding day of the Assam Book Fair, a book stall was sealed for selling pirated copies on Tuesday, January 9 in Guwahati.
The organisers, Publication Board of Assam took action against a stall named Bidya Mandir sealing it for allegedly selling pirated copies of books to the customers.
The proprietor of the book stall reportedly hailed from Dibrugarh.
Talking to GPlus, a senior official from the Publication Board of Assam said, "Upon receiving information about the sale of pirated copies at the Book Fair, we requested its closure on Monday. However, there was no response. Consequently, on Tuesday, we had to take the step of sealing it."
Around 135 book stalls were set up during the Assam Book Fair which started on December 29 and concluded on January 9. This year, the book fair recorded sale of approximately ₹10.5 crores, including both retail and wholesale transactions.
