AASU members in Nalbari protested against Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal's visit at Nalbari by waving black flags. The protestors were arrested by police.

According to sources, the protestors were brutally beaten and injured inside the police station by BJP supporters.

Opposition leader Debabrata Saikia has strongly condemned the incident. Saikia, also demanded for quick interrogation and punishment of the workers involved.

OC of Ghoghrapar PS arrested Amarjyoti Das, Baharul Islam, and Rekibuddin Ahmed. According to the FIR, the arrested were also threatened to be killed if they held any protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in any part of Nalbari henceforth.

"Sarbananda Sonowal after coming to power said that he'll always talk to public about the issues and concerns. But in the present time, leave alone talking to public, people of the state can't even independently take part in protests. Public actions are forcefully dominated today. This is dangerous for the state," said Saikia.

However, in another report, BJP members have also been attacked and injured by stones. Sources in BJP informed G Plus that it was BJP who first lodged an FIR as stones were pelted on ministers Chandra Mohan Patowary and Himanta Biswa Sarma. They first lodged the FIR and an argument followed inside the Poilice Station after which AASU members were allegedly beaten up
