BJP Leader Shot In Uttar Pradesh, Police Launch Investigation

 

GUWAHATI: Pramod Kumar Yadav, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was shot dead by unidentified assailants in an area under the Sikrara Police Station on Thursday, as per media reports.

The incident unfolded around 10 AM when Yadav, a resident of Bodhapur and a key figure in the BJP district unit, was flagged down by motorcycle riders who proceeded to open fire on him.

Superintendent of Police (City) Brijesh Kumar talking to media said that Yadav sustained four gunshot wounds during the attack.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, doctors declared him dead.

The Sikrara Police, led by Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma, has initiated investigations into the matter, assuring swift action to apprehend those involved in the fatal shooting.

Pramod Kumar Yadav, who contested in the 2021 assembly polls from the Malhani seat for the BJP, had faced Jagriti Singh, the ex-wife of former MP Dhananjay Singh. Jagriti Singh, now associated with the Janata Dal (United), was reportedly planning to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Jaunpur, as per media reports.
