B Borooah Road Flyover To Be Connected With Dighalipukhuri-Noonmati Corridor

GUWAHATI: The foundation stone for the Dighalipukhuri Noonmati elevated corridor was laid on January 1 this year. Though the detailed project report of the project was approved by the government, a new decision has been made – the flyover near the Nehru Stadium at B Borooah Road will be connected to the Dighalipukhuri – Noonmati elevated corridor.

A source in the Public Works Department (PWD) talking to GPlus said, “The present design does not have a wing towards B Borooah Road, but it was recently decided that from Guwahati Club Rotary there will be a wing towards B Borooah Road,” adding that either the wing will be directly connected to the B Borooah flyover or it will land after the flyover.

The source added that because the flyover near the stadium is old, it will anyways require repairmen soon or it will be reconstructed, but now design work is going on to connect the old flyover with the upcoming Dighalipukhuri – Noonmati elevated corridor.

The budget of the corridor estimated to be worth ₹852.68 crore will increase after the design of the extra wing towards B Borooah Road is planned, informed the source.

The elevated corridor will be constructed by Shree Gautam Construction Co Ltd- Anupam Nirman Pvt Ltd (joint venture) and will be a four-lane stretch with 15.5 meters in width with a total number of 98 pillars.

The extra wing towards B Borooah Road will be of two lanes.

According to the design, there will be a rotary at Chandmari Point which will connect the elevated corridor with the old Chandmari flyover to ease the traffic, said the source.

Usually, such projects require 36 months as the timeframe to complete construction work but the PWD is targeting to complete the work before 2026.
