Assam’s Chachal Shatadal Shakha Sahitya Sabha To Mark Silver Jubilee Celebrations

 

GUWAHATI: The Chachal Shatadal Shakha Sahitya Sabha, a branch of the Asom Sahitya Sabha, will celebrate its Silver Jubilee on Tuesday, December 3. This event aims to commemorate 25 years of literary and cultural contributions by the branch to the Assamese literary community.

The celebrations will begin with the hoisting of 25 flags by former presidents, vice-presidents, secretaries, and other eminent personalities, followed by a ceremonial lamp-lighting and memorial tribute.

Highlights of the day include a harmony procession, a memorial meeting, and an interactive session.

The inaugural session will be presided over by Thaneshwar Malakar, President of the Celebration Committee, and will feature Suryakanta Hazarika, President of Asom Sahitya Sabha, and Kuladhar Saikia, former President of the Sabha, as guest speakers. Saikia will also chair a book launch during the event.

As part of the Silver Jubilee, the Sabha will also aim to publish and release 25 books authored by its members during 2024-2025. Of these, 12 books will be released on the day of the celebration. The year-long activities will also include monthly discussion sessions, poetry conferences, and competitions to further promote Assamese language and literature.

This grand event will finally conclude with a cultural programme.
