Assamese Photographer To Exhibit Photographs Of Brahmaputra And Assam's Culture In Delhi

Sanjib Gohain Boruah, a photographer from Assam, is set to showcase 45  photographs at the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi from January 23. This marks his fourth solo exhibition and his debut in the capital city.

A retired IAS officer, Gohain Boruah has been a noted figure in Assam's photography scene for over two decades. His passion for capturing the essence of life through his lens has made him a well-known name in the state. 

The exhibition, titled Brahmaputra… and Other Stories, features 45 photographs, with 14 focusing on the majestic Brahmaputra River, capturing its different moods and the coexistence of life along its banks. The other 31 photos highlights the beauty and diversity of Assam, showcasing its wildlife, unique species, water bodies like Deepor Beel and Sonbeel, rural life, community fishing activities, rituals, and performing arts. These images reflect the rich cultural tapestry that defines the state. The exhibition will run until January 30.

Gohain Boruah has previously held three solo exhibitions in Guwahati and has participated in group exhibitions, both within Assam and beyond. He also serves as the Chief Advisor of the Photography Club of Assam, a leading photography organisation in the state.
