Making its way into the “Unheard India: Rare Languages” section, the film delves into the cultural tapestry of the Galo community of Arunachal Pradesh. Its plot follows Arnav, an Assamese writer, who visits his Galo friend Nyumsen in a remote, scenic village.

Alokanv marks Deka’s directorial debut, who has previously won the Assam State Film Award for Best Cinematography. He drew inspiration for this film from his close interactions with the Galo community, aiming to bring their unique culture and traditions into the national spotlight.

KIFF is the third oldest international film festival in India, having been founded in 1995. The selection of Alokanv at KIFF only underscores the growing recognition of Northeast India’s cinematic potential on a wider level.
