Assam: Tiger Monitoring Center Established at Kaziranga National Park

A tiger monitoring center has been inaugurated at the Kaziranga National Park (KNP). 


P Shivkumar, Field Director and Ramesh Kumar Gogoi, Divisional Forest Officer of KNP inaugurated Phase IV - Tiger Monitoring for 2021. 


The whole Kaziranga Tiger Reserve has been renamed as Block-1, 2, 3 & 4. 


The first two blocks are in the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, Block 3 is Biswanath Wildlife Division and Block 4 is Nagaon Wildlife Division comprising 1000 km2 of total 1055 km2 of Tiger Reserve area. 


Apart from large numbers of forest personnel, few volunteers from local schools and colleges will also be engaged for the purpose of monitoring.
