Assam Swimmer Shines at South Asian Games

GUWAHATI: Representing India, swimmer Shivangi Sharma has won two more medals at the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) in Kathmandu.

Shivangi (17) from Assam, won 800m freestyle relay gold and 400m freestyle individual silver at the SAG.

Earlier she won two silver medals including one in 100m freestyle finishing at 58.15 and in 200 metre freestyle, Shivangi finished second at 2:07.19 while Bangladesh’s Junayna Ahmed came third at 2:12.83.

In 400 m freestyle, Indian swimmer Shivangi Sharma won the silver finishing second at 4.26.22.

India’s medal tally in the SAG was – 294 medals including 159 gold, 91 silver, and 44 bronze medals.

Meanwhile, Gaurika Singh ended the 13th South Asian Games with a bang, as she raced home her fourth gold in the women’s 100m freestyle on the final day of the swimming events.
