GUWAHATI: The Assam government has announced a financial package to promote and preserve Bathou, the traditional faith of the Bodo community, during the 32nd Annual Session of the All Bathou Mahasabha held at Pathalikuchi in Tamulpur on Sunday, April 6.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X, stating that ₹15 crore has been allocated for the construction of three major Bathou Thansali and heritage centres in Goreswar, Chirang and either Ghoramara or Tezpur.

Sarma also stated that over the past two years, ₹5 lakh each has been given to 200 Bathou 'Thansalis' and 'Brahma Mandirs'. An additional 100 religious sites will be covered under the same scheme this year.
The chief minister added that the new Assam Bhawan being built in New Delhi will include a Namghar and a Sijou tree, representing Bathou traditions. This initiative will be carried out in collaboration with the All Bathou Mahasabha.
