Assam: Rifles, Ammunition Recovered In Panbari

GUWAHATI: Based on a specific source information, a joint operation was conducted on Monday, September 23 by Chirang Police led by SDPO, Bijni along with the 5th Garhwal Rifles of Indian Army and 54 Bn SSB in the general area of Gabrukhunda inside Panbari Reserve Forest, 18 km north of Panbari PS. 

From 5.30 am today, Tuesday, September 24, rigorous search has been carried out. 

Based on the lead given by the source & Army tracker dog, digging was done at multiple places. 

During digging, at one place, 8 packets containing some suspected items packed in plastic material were recovered. 

After unpacking in the presence of independent witnesses, the following items have been recovered- 9 Factory made rifle, 11 Country made rifle, 56 7.62 AK series ammunition, 10 5.56 ammunition, 21 7.62 sniper ammunition, 10 7.62 Pika ammunition, 29 7.62 CTN, 1 333 Nitro, 1 M 20 ammunition, 5 Country made ammunition, 83 Empty cartridges, 15 12 bore empty cartridges, 3 7.62 Pistol magazine, 1 .22 Pistol magazine, 17 KG Explosives (PEK), 2 HYT handheld Radio Set (made in China) with additional battery, 1 12 Volt battery, 93 feet wire, 10 Suspected Lead/Iron balls and 1 extra barrel.
