GUWAHATI: The Assam government has waived off renewal fees for organisations such as Namghars, religious institutions, and non-governmental educational bodies, earlier held applicable under the Societies Registration Act.

This decision was announced following a state cabinet meeting that chaired on Wednesday, December 11.
The new initiative aims to introduce relaxations to aid public institutions in acquiring land under the Mission Basundhara 3.0 initiative.
In addition, the government has also scrapped the requirement of providing a Chartered Accountant Certificate for auditing the last three years.
