This was announced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma after finalising a meeting on Monday, where the guidelines for Orunodoi 3.0 were put in place. The new phase of the scheme plans to transfer ₹1,250 into the bank accounts of 37 lakh women during its initial stage.

Launched back in October 2, 2020, the Orunodoi Scheme covered 19 lakh people at first, with each beneficiary receiving an initial payment of ₹850. It currently offers ₹1000 per month through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme to the same number of people.

Taking to X, Assam CM Sarma said, “All beneficiaries will need to have both Aadhar and ration cards. I am extremely satisfied with how the scheme has evolved, increasing support from ₹850 to ₹1,250 for 37 lakh women, and the transformation it has brought to their lives.”

The first phase has been scheduled to start from September 30, as the scheme aims to provide ₹2 lakh for each beneficiary.
