GUWAHATI: A total of 7,11,905 people across 29 districts have been affected as flood hits Assam. This was informed by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) through an official statement on Friday, May 20.
The flood has been reported from Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Charaideo, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Dima-Hasao, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Karbi Anglong West, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sonitpur, South Salmara, Tinsukia, and Udalguri in the last 24 hours.
As per the daily flood data, among the 7,11,905 people, 1,39,780 are children, the ASDMA informed.
The ASDMA data of Friday states that four people died and no people were reported missing in the last 24 hours.
362 relief camps have been opened across the various districts of the State and a total of 74,705 inmates are staying in those camps.
Further, 3 houses have been damaged in the flood in the last 24 hours. Whereas on Thursday, 29,894 houses were destroyed, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority stated.
