GUWAHATI: Former senior Congress leader and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ajanta Neog has joined the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) along with Rajdeep Gowala, MLA from Lakhipur, on Tuesday.
Ajanta Neog had earlier met Amit Shah as rumours for her departure to the saffron party surfaced. She was then removed as the Golaghat district chief.
Neog further claimed that there is a gap between the party she has worked for so long (Congress) and the public. On the other hand, the former Congress leader claimed that "BJP has a futuristic vision."
Neog has equated her move to the BJP to entering a new home like a daughter in law. "I am like a new member of the house and I want to take it forward in the 2021 Assembly election," said Ajanta Neog.
She claimed that her move to the BJP was motivated by the confidence instilled in her by Amit Shah, BJP State President, Ranjeet Dass and by the people of Golaghat constituency.
