Assam Elections 2021: All Election Workers to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine Ahead of Voting Day

GUWAHATI: All frontline workers will be vaccinated for COVID-19 ahead of the polling day to ensure the safety of voters amid pandemic, stated the Election Commission in Assam.

Chief Election Officer of Assam Rahul Choudhary said that the people who will be working to help conduct the election in the state smoothly will get a jab of the COVID-19 vaccine before the polls. The Election Commission has issued a list of safety measures to be followed during the election amid pandemic to curb the spread of the virus.

“The guidelines for Assam elections are almost the same as that of the Bihar Elections. EC will deploy security staffs for conducting the elections. Over 2,41,000 polling persons are likely to be working in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state of Assam. Temporary polling stations will also be set up at selected locations across the state due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis,” Choudhary said.

Apart from these, the election commission is all set to keep a check against violations of the Model Code of Conduct. Political parties are to stop advertising or campaigning 48 hours before the polling starts.
