Assam Congress To Hold “Jan Jagaran Abhiyan” Across State For 7 Days

GUWAHATI: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) will hold a seven-day awareness drive called "Jan Jagaran Abhiyan" across seven districts in the State starting from Sunday, November 14.

The Jan Jagaran Abhiyan will start with a "Padh Yatra" which will be flagged off on Sunday at 11 AM from the Rajiv Bhawan, G S Road area of Guwahati to Ulubari Over Bridge and back to the Rajiv Bhawan.

President of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Bhupen Kumar Borah while speaking to G Plus said, "We are going to visit the interior villages across seven districts of the State. This is basically a ground survey to discuss with the common people regarding their issues and problems. Also, whether they are properly receiving the benefits (Government schemes) shall be discussed apart from other issues and problems that they are facing," Borah added.

"We shall hold the nights in the villages and with the villagers so as to understand their plights better", Borah further added.

The main objective of the Abhiyan is to create awareness and to enlighten common people regarding the wrong handling of the economy by the Central government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled State government. The Abhiyan will also focus on the high price of essential commodities.

As per the decision of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting held on 16 October, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has resolved to carry out the "Jan Jagaran Abhiyan" across India on the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The awareness drive shall involve senior party leaders, party workers, and common people across the country.
