GUWAHATI: To encourage greater participation of youth from the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities in competitive exams, the Assam government has decided to exempt examination fees for SC/ST students seeking government jobs.

This decision was approved during the state cabinet meeting held on July 3.
The initiative aims to remove financial barriers for SC/ST candidates, thereby promoting inclusivity and ensuring a more equitable representation in government positions. By waiving the examination fees, more students would be motivated from these communities to pursue careers in public service.
