GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked the Guwahati Traffic Police to look into the situation of traffic in the Cycle Factory area, Guwahati.

The chief minister was responding to a suggestion by a citizen.
The citizen suggested making the above route a 'one-way' by diverting the same via Aryanagar. (coming from Athgaon/Bharalumukh side) as tremendous traffic jams are being observed in Bishnupur Tiniali-Cycle Factory point due to the new traffic diversions.
The construction of the Cycle Factory-Lal Ganesh flyover in the Cycle Factory area started on Monday, July 15. Accordingly, traffic was restricted and diverted for smooth movement of the vehicles, but the regulations created chaos in certain areas, especially on the stretch from Cycle Factory to Arya Nagar via Bishnupur.
Despite these measures, major traffic congestion was reported in the Bishnupur and Chabipool areas. Commuters, who typically take 2-5 minutes to traverse these routes, were stranded for over an hour.
