GUWAHATI: The Union government told the Supreme Court on January 6, that children excluded from Assam’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) despite their parents being on the list will not be sent to the detention centres.
“Children whose parents have been granted citizenship will not be sent to detention centres," said Attorney General KK Venugopal.
Meanwhile, the Court proceeded to issue notice to the Union of India and the State of Assam on this plea and sought a reply within four weeks.
