Assam Cabinet Approves New Flyover, Revamp Of State Zoo In Guwahati

 

The Assam Cabinet has approved a host of key projects to improve infrastructure and development.

The Assam government has approved the construction of a new flyover in the Downtown Junction of Guwahati.

Following a state Cabinet meeting on Friday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X to announce the decision, estimating the new flyover to be constructed at a cost of ₹111.654 crore. The project will also include additional work related to drainage systems, development of parking areas, restoration and road safety works, etc.

Sarma has additionally announced upgradation work for the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden (ASZBG), as the state aims to enhance its existing facilities, thereby improving visitor experience.

Other key decisions taken in the Cabinet meeting revolve around boosting local entrepreneurship under the Chief Minister Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijaan (CMAAA) for 174 professional candidates and 25,064 general category candidates.

Also, a procurement has been approved to avail 100 MW of wind solar hybrid power from the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) by Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL.)
