GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has approved multiple key decisions in its latest state cabinet meeting, including a 2% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners, collaboration with France for an Assam Climate Centre, the establishment of Mahaprabhu Jagannath Community Halls in tea estates, along with the conversion of two proposed reserve forests into revenue villages.

2% DA Hike for Government Employees and Pensioners
The Cabinet sanctioned a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners. The arrears for April and May will be disbursed accordingly, bringing relief to thousands of beneficiaries.
Assam Climate Centre for Cities in Collaboration with France
The Assam Climate Centre for Cities will be established in Guwahati in collaboration with the French Government and the Government of India (GoI). The expenses will be jointly borne by both governments, and the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) will appoint a team of experts to oversee the project. This initiative aims to enhance climate protection efforts in the state.
Mahaprabhu Jagannath Community Halls in Tea Estates
To support social and cultural activities in tea estates, the Assam Cabinet has approved the construction of Mahaprabhu Jagannath Community Halls across 500 tea estates in the state. A managing committee led by local MLAs will be formed to oversee the operation and maintenance of these community halls.
Conversion of Proposed Reserve Forests into Revenue Villages
In a major land policy decision, the government has converted Paglijhora and Nayak reserve forests into revenue villages. The Cabinet has taken up 280 hectares and 180 hectares respectively for this purpose while also reserving additional forest areas.
