GUWAHATI: This year Assam Book Fair has sold books worth almost ₹5 crore, said the Publication Board Assam in a statement. The sales have seen a massive increase as compared to last year. A large number of people were seen visiting the AEI field in Chandmari on Sunday, 8 January to make last-minute purchases as the event draws to a close.
“I visit the book fair every year. This year there were more publication houses from outside and they had a much more interesting collection of books. It was nice as lots of different varieties of books were available. It was especially heartwarming to see so many kids buying books at the fair,” an attendee told G Plus.
Another resident of Guwahati who attended the book fair said “The competitions and the programs organised were very interesting but there was a lack of seating available and I got tired after walking around so much. It was very crowded but the food was good.”
The second edition of the Assam Book Fair started on December 29, 2022, and will come to an end today, January 9, 2023.
