GUWAHATI: In a significant development, the special judge's court on Tuesday rejected the bail pleas of all six accused individuals involved in the ₹105 crore-State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) scam in Assam.
The court's decision came after the accused, namely Hunmoni Nath, Bhaskar Hazarika, Manoj Das, David Adhikary, Benin Doley, and Rajesh Kumar Joshi, had sought bail.
The accused individuals were hopeful of securing bail but were left disappointed as the court deemed it inappropriate to grant them temporary release. The denial of bail signifies the severity of the charges against them and the court's stance on the matter.
Earlier, on June 1, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bidyut Kalita was suspended from the party following allegations of his involvement in the ₹105 crore SCERT scam.
Kalita's suspension from his post was a temporary measure taken by the party, pending further investigation into his alleged role in the fraudulent scheme.
The ₹105 crore SCERT scam has attracted considerable attention due to its substantial financial implications and the alleged involvement of several individuals.
