The General Administration Department (GAD) has been designated as the nodal authority for implementing these new guidelines. As part of the procedure, the state government will also verify the submitted documents and forward them to the UIDAI within 45 days.
The process will further involve oversight by additional district commissioners at the district level, while circle officers will handle verifications at the Revenue Circle level.
Also, specially appointed inspection officers will confirm applicants’ residency and, where applicable, verify whether they have applied for the NRC.
Notably, this NRC-related requirement will not apply to government officials.
