GUWAHATI: Two people were killed and 19 were injured in a road accident in Assam’s Goalpara district on January 23.
A passenger vehicle hit a roadside tree on National Highway-17, Rongjuli. Locals said that the driver of the speeding vehicle lost his control over the vehicle and rammed into the tree.
The two deceased were identified as Matibur Rahman and Habibur Rahman.

Abdul Hai, Sofikul Islam, Abdul Islam, Abdul Kasem, Joynal Abedin, Nijan Ali, Nasib Uddin and the others injured were rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital where they are undergoing treatment. Reports suggest that they are in critical condition.
The passengers were reportedly on their way from Jaleswar in Barpeta district to attend a religious function.
