Asomi Saras Mela 2024 Concludes With Record Sales Of ₹19 Crore

 

GUWAHATI: The 14th edition of the Asomi Saras Mela 2024, organised by the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM), has concluded recording sales of ₹1969.85 lakhs. The fair, held from November 30 to December 15 at the Veterinary Ground, Khanapara, featured 238 stalls, including 138 from Assam and 100 from other states.

The 16-day event attracted visitors who explored a wide variety of products such as handlooms, handicrafts, and organic food items. Digital payments accounted for ₹248.18 lakhs through 2963 transactions. The total sales exceeded last year’s ₹8.74 crore, more than doubling the previous figure.

Sales Breakdown:

Total Sales: ₹1969.85 lakhs
Sales from Assam Stalls: ₹1107.47 lakhs
Sales from Other States Stalls: ₹671.17 lakhs
Sales from Food Stalls: ₹191.21 lakhs

The highest-selling stalls were Purnima Mahila SHG (Lakhimpur District) with Rs. 1.04 crore, Abhilash SHG (Sivasagar District) with Rs. 93.94 lakh, and Bishbhani JK SHG (Lakhimpur District) with Rs. 84.57 lakhs.

The fair was inaugurated by Ranjeet Kumar Dass, the Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development, on November 30. In addition to the sales, the event featured cultural programmes, skill development workshops for artisans, and interactions with ASRLM officials.
