The 21-year-old currently stands just behind Magnus Carlsen, who leads with 2831.0 rating points, while Arjun follows closely with 2805.8, surpassing U.S. Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana (2805.0).

This achievement makes Erigaisi only the second Indian, after the legendary Viswanathan Anand, to cross the 2800 Elo rating mark.

The Chennai Grand Masters, organised by MGD1 and supported by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, features two competitive categories: the Masters, with an average rating of 2729, and the Challengers, a division designed to spotlight rising Indian talent.

Arjun shares the lead in the Masters category with Iran’s Amin Tabatabaei after three rounds, both securing 2.5 points each.
