GUWAHATI: IPS officer and current Superintendent of Police, Lakhimpur, Anand Mishra, has resigned from the Indian Police Service.
An image of his resignation letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Assam has gone viral on social media. The letter states that Mishra wants to pursue a life of freedom and independence through various social services and other means that are beyond the mandate of IPS.
Speaking to GPlus, Mishra confirmed that he has resigned.
"As of now, I am not joining any political party. I will go to my village and do social work. Lok Sabha elections I will contest or not, at present I have no idea," said Anand Mishra while speaking exclusively to GPlus when he was questioned if he is joining politics or contesting Lok Sabha polls.
He further mentioned that in future he would like to continue to work for the public but for now, he wants to ride his bike and enjoy freedom.
