Air Marshal PK Barbora Passes Away

 

GUWAHATI: Air Marshal PK Barbora, a decorated veteran of the Indian Air Force, passed away on October 30.

He was an alumnus of the 104th Pilot Course and the 35th National Defence Academy (NDA).

Throughout his illustrious career, Air Marshal Barbora held several key positions.

He had the distinct honour of commanding the 29th Squadron and the 11th Wing, showcasing his leadership abilities and strategic acumen.

Furthermore, his international exposure included serving as the Air Advisor to Russia, where he contributed to fostering ties between the two nations.

Upon his return to India, Air Marshal Barbora assumed the role of Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) in the Eastern Air Command before advancing to become the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Eastern Air Command and subsequently the Western Air Command.

Notably, he also served as the Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force for 1.5 years, playing a vital role in the highest echelons of the Air Force.

His exemplary career culminated with his superannuation on December 31, 2010.
