Administration Vows Strict Action Against Commercial Establishments Using Domestic LPGs

 

GUWAHATI: The district administration of Kamrup (Metro) has vowed to take strict action against the commercial establishments using domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders. 

According to a press statement issued by the district administration today, recently, there have been allegations of the use of domestic LPGs in various commercial establishments in Kamrup Metropolitan District, including hotels, restaurants and canteens. The use of uncontrolled pressure regulators in the yellow bonded gas cylinders throughout these establishments can cause any accident at any moment.

In addition, the business establishment are violating Sections 3(C) and 7(C) of the Domestic Bandhan Gas Supply and Distribution Control Act, 2000 by doing so. The government loses revenue from businesses using domestic cooking gas cylinders instead of commercial ones.

“Therefore, all business establishments are warned through this notice to use commercial gasoline cylinders in their establishments. Legal action will be taken against such establishments if they are found using domestic cylinders,” said the press statement.


Sources in district administration said that an enforcement team is constituted which will conduct rigorous raids across Guwahati soon.
