Assamese film "Abhimannyu," directed by Achinta Shankar, delivers a gripping tale of vengeance and loss. Released on November 15, the film stars Kamal Lochan, Deeplina Deka, Debajit Mazumdar, Kaushik Nath, Chanku Niranjan Nath, and Amrita Gogoi in important roles among others,  bringing together a talented cast who breathe life into a story filled with emotion and raw power.

At its heart, "Abhimannyu" explores the depths of a husband's sorrow and rage as he seeks justice for the untimely death of his wife. Kamal Lochan, as the grieving protagonist, delivers a compelling performance, channeling his pain and determination in a way that feels both authentic and impactful. Deeplina Deka's portrayal of the wife adds a delicate yet haunting presence to the narrative, making her loss even more poignant.

The film's pace is relentless, plunging the audience into a web of suspense and retribution. Achinta Shankar’s direction is sharp, maintaining tension while allowing moments of tenderness to shine through. The cinematography captures the serene beauty of Assam, contrasting starkly with the dark themes of revenge and justice. The editing, sound design and background score is also worth praising.

While some scenes lean on familiar tropes of the revenge genre, the film’s powerful performances and emotional core keep viewers engaged.
