AAP Minister Quits Party Unable To Stand Corruption

Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) cup of woes is brimming over with one of its ministers, Raaj Kumar Anand, resigning from the primary membership of the party saying he could no longer stand the deep-rooted corruption that has engulfed it.

The development comes at a time when AAP founder and Delhi Chief Minister is in judicial custody on corruption charges.

AAP promptly attributed  Anand’s resignation to the BJP which is trying to break up the party with the help of central investigating agency.
While Anand claimed the party is “mired in the quicksand of graft,” reports suggest that he himself is under investigation in a case of alleged money laundering.

Addressing a press conference at his residence after tendering his resignation to party general secretary Sandeep Pathak, he said, “I had entered politics when Kejriwal had said that if its politics changes, the country will change. But today, I say with much regret, that politics did not change but political leaders did.

The AAP was born out of a movement against corruption, but today this party is mired in the same quicksand of graft.” He also accused the AAP of discriminatory practices in staffing leadership positions in the party.

"There is no Dalit MLA or councillor in the Aam Aadmi Party. Dalit leaders are not even appointed to leadership positions. I follow the principles of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. If I cannot work for Dalits, then there is no point in being in the party," Anand told reporters in Delhi.
